I've been doing research about female (and non-binary) representation in videogames.

My intervention is a proposal for a progressive future videogame of which the idea is collaboratively created with other people by using Instagram's polls on my art account.

I started by asking if they know any sexualised female game characters. I also got a lot of private messages explaining why and what they think about said character.

Then I came up with the idea of using this method of user input to together create an idea for a possible future game. But I first needed a bit more research. After that I started asking for character traits, genre, setting etc.

MAPPING

I catagorised all the answers I got for the character traits (so far) and made this overview.
I'm going to use these to make the polls to narrow down the protagonist(s).

Based on these questions, and a LOT more of those, I put a character together!
Meet Shania!

A lot of people asked for POC, ace, Native American, disability. So I combined those things.

Name: Shania
Gender: Female
Sexuality: Ace

She's a black Native American.

Communicates with sign language because of her autism. It makes her feel better and it's easier to express herself this way.

She's smart, kind, has a great sense of humor but is also very serious when needed. She likes fashion and her favorite colours are salmon, yellow and purple.

She has two leg protheses, but that doesn't make her vulnerable. To her, it's part of her fashion looks and she likes to change up the colours and styles sometimes.

(Of Native American Indian origin. The name is from an Ojibwa phrase meaning 'I'm on my way'.)

GAME SETTING AND GENRE

The setting of the game is the future. Earth was destroyed by earthquakes, storms and nuclear war. Three humans find eachother after a long sleep in cryo. They explore their new earth together, find other people of different cultures and try to solve this world's newfound misteries.
